This particular piece of boro originates from Japan dating from the late Edo to early Meiji Period. Composed of multiple indigo dyed silk fragments, carefully patched together over time. Historically boro was primarily used by rural, working class households to repair, reinforce, and extend the life of worn out garments and household items like bedding (futon covers)
